Chairman strikes gold!

STOCKTON Heath Parish Council can now keep up with the Jones’ – thanks to a local jeweller.
Chairman Cllr Graham Roughsedge struck gold when he approached jewellers Evans and Co – as they offered to restore the chain of office at a bargain price.
Cllr Roughsedge asked the jeweller if he could improve the appearance of the chain as it was looking “shabby” compared with other council chairmen’s chains of office he had noticed while attending functions.
The jewellers agreed to rearrange and clean the chain at a cost of £200 – and said they would carry out repair work free of charge.
Cllr Roughsedge said if they had not agreed to do some of the work free, the cost would have been more than £1,000.
Cllr Tudor Pole said it was a “fantastic offer.”
