PETER Astley, Warrington’s head of public protection, has officially received his MBE at Buckingham Palace.
His award, for “services to consumers in the North West”, was presented by the Prince of Wales in front of 300 guests.
Peter said: “This was a once in a lifetime experience, not just to receive the award, but to visit the Palace and walk where Kings, Queens and numerous Heads of State have.
“To be recognised for my work is a real honour in itself, but to receive this at the Palace in front of my family was an experience I will never forget”.
As well as his role as head of public protection Peter works, regionally, nationally and internationally to protect consumers and businesses from the dangers of counterfeit products.
Despite this however, the MBE was awarded for the excellent and innovative work he and his team do in Warrington to protect consumers, which is often a benchmark for others to follow
