College a great place to work

A WARRINGTON college has secured a place in the Sunday Times “100 best places to work” list.
A total of 227 members of staff at Warrington Collegiate voted to win the college a place at 84 in the list – and a star rating.
The college was listed in the public and charity sectors’ survey and saw its overall score increase by 22 points from last year.
Overall, the college scores improved in seven out of eight areas with the greatest improvements coming from staff in the categories of leadership and appreciation for the skills and values of the principal and senior management and giving something back, which highlights the college’s efforts to make a positive difference in the local community.
A comparison of the results against the average of all the organisations that took part revealed the college was marked above average in six categories including teamwork, personal growth and contribution.
Only six other colleges made the top 100 list, placing Warrington Collegiate in the top 10 bracket of best educational institutions to work for in the country and top two in the North West.
Principal Paul Hafren (principal) said: “It’s wonderful that our place in the top 100 comes directly from our dedicated staff. Getting such a positive score shows that they are excited about where the college is going and how involved they are in that development.
“I’m glad that we can provide a place to work where everyone feels like they can make a contribution and are happy about the job that they do. Our staff are essential to the success of the college and it is vital they feel appreciated and supported.”
The college has an Open Evening on Thursday, March 31, 5-8pm. Staff and current students will be there to meet prospective newcomers.
