Turn trash into cash

BUSINESSES and individuals in Culcheth are being urged to turn their trash into cash to help local guides.
The 7th Culcheth Guides have launched an appeal to raise funds through the recycling of mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and printer cartridges, via The Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal.
Group spokeswoman Sara Isles said: “This will help 7th Culcheth Guides make money from items normally thrown in the bin.
“The Girlguiding UK Recycling Appeal will give 7th Culcheth Guides cash for each reusable item received on their behalf.”
The group is urging local businesses to help by saving used printer cartridges and old phones – the guides will arrange the collection of items.
Sara said: “Supporting the appeal has a positive impact on the environment as it diverts mobile phones, PDAs and printer cartridges from landfill.
“These items contain toxic substances which, if they are dumped, can leak into the surrounding soil and pollute the earth. Donating them means they can be reused or disposed of safely.”
