Garage fire puts man in hospital

A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke after tackling a fire in his garage at Warrington.
The blaze was at a house in Rushmore Grove, Fearnhead early yesterday evening (Wednesday).
Fire crews found the detached garage well alight when they reached the scene. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with hose reel jets.
The man suffering from smoke inhalation was handed over to the ambulance service.
Earlier yesterday, firefighters use two hose reels to extinguish a fire in a car on Birchwood Way, Warrington.
The road was closed for a time while the blaze was dealt with. No-one was hurt.
Crews from Stockton Heath also dealt with a car fire on a M56 sliproad at Junction 11. The car was badly damaged and the cause was an overheated engine.
