MP attacks police cutbacks

A WARRINGTON MP has hit out at Government plans to cut front line police officers while spending money on “unnecessary” police commissioners.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones took part in a police debate in the House of Commons and put her views to the Minister of Justice, Nick Herbert.
She asked why Cheshire Constabulary should lose more than 200 police officers, when money is being spent on elected police commissioners and the wasteful bureaucracy that will come with them.
She said: “I find it abhorrent that when cuts to public spending are leading to front line services being lost, this Government sees fit to waste money on bureaucracy in the form of elected Police Commissioners. Not only are Police Commissioners wasteful, they risk politicising the police.
“Crime was reduced by over a third under Labour because we gave the police the resources they needed to fight crime and keep our streets safe. I’m sure my constituents would much prefer that the money being spent on Police Commissioners was invested in putting officers on the beat.”

  1. I cant get a bus on sunday on

What this stupid woman should have said instead of “Crime was reduced by over a third under Labour because we gave the police the resources they needed to fight crime and keep our streets safe” is……Crime was reduced by over a third under Liebour because we borrowed billions of pounds we shouldn’t have to give the UK policing on tick and then declassified certain types of crime and fiddled the figures to make it look like it was all working. Oh, and we kept on letting criminals out early just to keep the whole cycle going
