A WARRINGTON man has won a place on a programme which enables him to work for a charity for two months – and get paid for it.
Chris Cookson, 48, will spend two months working with Christian Aid in their fundraising department at St Helens.
More than 11,000 people registered interest for the Vodafone World of Difference UK programme and Chris was one of 500 from across the country to win a chance to work for a charity of his choice.
Chris, (pictured) a charity co-ordinator, said: “To turn hope into action for all people, whatever their faith. To me that’s fundamental to life and to the planet’s wellbeing. Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity, it’s an act of justice.”
This is the second year that the Vodafone Foundation has delivered a UK World of Difference programme, giving 500 people the chance to make a difference.
Last year, charities from all corners of the UK benefited and 60 per cent of those who took part have stayed connected to their charity, giving the UK’s third sector much needed support.
