DOCTOR Kevin Jones had the right tonic to make everyone feel happy when he was the guest speaker at Warrington Masonic Group’s Gentlemen’s Evening.
Dr Jones had the audience in fits of laughter and the men were only too happy to part with their money to support an important women’s charity.
The Gentlemen’s Evening at the Masonic Hall, Winmarleigh Street, aimed to raise as much as possible for Warrington Women’s Aid. It is expected that more than £2,500 will have been raised on the night.
WWA is a local charity that helps women who are in abusive and/or violent relationships. The refuge provides a short to medium term sanctuary for victims and their children who are also often subjected to the same abusive behaviour.
After an excellent meal the sell-out audience was entertained by Dr Jones who qualified at Liverpool University and has since worked at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge and St Bartholomew’s in London. He is currently the chest consultant at Bury General Hospital.
Dr regaled the diners with extremely amusing stories based on his medical experiences and had his audience in fits of laughter.
A very successful auction was conducted by Peter Whalley who was assisted by other Warrington Freemasons and this was followed by entertainment from comedian Dom Thomas who also had the audience in stitches.
