WARRINGTON Town Football Club is opening its doors to the local community in a bid to provide local youngsters with an opportunity to gain a range of national qualifications.
The club which plays in the Evo-Stik sponsored northern Premier League Division One North is offering an Apprenticeship in Sport & Leisure which will be delivered in partnership with ESTC.
This is a Warrington Town Football Club apprenticeship scheme and in order for all the students to get the most out of the course, they will become actively involved within a variety of roles and the day to day working of our football club. Warrington Town will provide the opportunity for all learners to undertake tasks that are relevant and that will
support their studies.
The educational element of the programme is delivered over a minimum of three days per week, and is for 16-18 year old boys and girls. The programme length is determined following a short work trial and induction with Warrington Town Football Club. All the students will receive a full club kit and a minimum of 7 qualifications these being: –
1) NVQ Level 2 in Sports Recreation, Allied Occupations & Activity Leadership
2) Child Welfare
3) Emergency First Aid
4) Key Skills in Application of Number Level 1
5) Key Skills in Communication Level 1
6) FA Level 1
7) 1st4Sport Technical Certificate
Following a short agreed work trial, the Apprentice will receive a minimum weekly wage in line with the NMW (National Minimum Wage) for apprentices.
Applicants are required to attend a short work trial bringing along their National Insurance number, their full home address, date of birth and an emergency contact number. We will also need information in respect of previous qualifications but there is no minimum requirement for acceptance onto the course.
Chief Executive Ritchie Sutton said: “It is a training scheme I am sure will be a success and I am delighted at the prospect of the club helping local young people with their academic studies. This is an excellent opportunity for the young people of Warrington to engage with the club and obtain sporting qualifications; we hope to bring a real sense of community cohesion and spirit to the local area with Warrington Town FC at the centre of our local community activities, we believe we will be inundated for places on the scheme.”
This is an excellent opportunity for the young people of Warrington and the local community to get in involved with their local football club, achieve nationally recognised qualifications and commence on the ladder to a career in Sport & Leisure.
