AN open seminar comparing policing in the UK and USA will be hosted at the Warrington campus of Chester University.
The similarities and differences of the two systems will be discussed on Wednesday March 9.
Although the two systems came from similar origins, the university says they have “diverged significantly to meet the cultural differences and criminal propensities of each society.”
The event is being held in partnership with Cheshire Constabulary and the University of Central Florida. It will be led by officers from Cheshire Police and by experienced officers and students associated with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the American university.
Dr Ross Wolf, a divisional chief with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Reserves, and Professor with the University of Central Florida will give a presentation on the use of force in American policing.
The seminar is open to anyone with an interest in the area of Comparative Policing, including members of the public, although booking is essential.
The Seminar will take place from 2pm to 5pm in the university’s Lance Dobson Hall. To book a place contact Kirsty Taylor on 01925 534698 or email [email protected] by Friday, March 4.
