WORK is under way on the last five of 22 play areas at Warrington to be given a facelift as part of a £2.14 million programme.
They are Liverpool Road Recreation Ground, Poole Park and Euclid Park, where work is already underway, and Padgate Park and Tim Parry Recreation Ground, where a start will be made shortly.
A significant proportion of the funding for the revamp of the Liverpool Road and Poole Park play areas comes from Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN).
The refurbishments will create new opportunities for play for children, particularly in the 8-13 age group.
Borough council parks and woodlands manager Dave Cotterill said: “This generous investment from WREN will help breathe new life into the play areas at Liverpool Road and Poole Park. We are really proud of the work being done to create new and exciting facilities for children in these play areas.”
Richard Smith, project manager for WREN said: “We are delighted that WREN has been able to provide substantial funding to these important play areas in Sankey Bridges and Orford. The communities they serve will soon have top class play facilities and I hope they are enjoyed by a great many young people for years to come.”
