First Aid workshop for students

STUDENTS from the Health and Education curriculum area at Warrington’s Priestley College were involved in a thought provoking workshop session on First Aid.
Visiting health practitioner Geoff Wareing, a welfare at Preston North End football club put the students through their paces in life saving treatments.
Many students will be embarking on careers in fields relating to the early years and caring industries meaning that such experience is essential.
The students looked at the correct way to put people in the recovery position, how to check for signs of life, the kiss of life and the way in which to administer chest compressions without causing further injury.
College tutor Rachel Walsh said: “Geoff is a regular yearly visitor to campus and once again his workshop session proved to be very informative.
“Many of our students become empowered from such events as this and it gives them the ability to respond in the correct manner should they encounter a related situation in the future.”
