POLICE are searching for two thieves who got away with an £8,000 ring from a town centre jeweller’s shop at Warrington.
One of the thieves was caught by a security camera and police are asking if anyone recognises him, or if they have any information about the theft.
The theft took place at about 3.30pm on Tuesday, January 25 at A Baker and Sons, in Cairo Street, Warrington. But police have only just released details.
One man went into the shop and enquired about the ring which was on display in the window.
The man showed the offender the ring, which was an 18 carat white gold ring with a pear shaped diamond solitaire.
He handed it to the man just as another man was entering the shop – and the second man held the door open and both offenders fled on foot.
PC Simon Roberts said: “No one was hurt during this incident however the ring is worth around £8000 and is quite distinctive.
“I would urge people to take a good look at the CCTV image and if you recognise the man or if anyone has tried to sell you a ring like this recently, please call police.”
One of the offenders is described as being about 6ft 6in tall of stocky build. He had a skinny face, very short dark hair and was unshaven, wearing white trainers, a light blue tracksuit top, which had white stripes down the arm, and jeans. He spoke with a Liverpool accent.
The second offender is described was about 5ft 6in tall with short brown hair and was wearing a dark long sleeve coat, dark jacket and white trainers.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0845 458 0000 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

  1. Well put it this way I wouldn’t have handed over a ring of that value to someone that looked and dressed that way. The robbers don’t do peephole masks and strippy shirts anymore.
