Exams success wins MP's praise

WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat has congratulated Warrington’s schools for their excellent examination results which resulted in the town ranking highly in the national league table for GCSE results.
Warrington was ranked 24th with 61.8 per cent of children attaining at least five good GCSEs, including English and Maths. The Government target for the area was 60 per cent.
The MP said: “These are excellent results and we should be celebrating them. It’s also important to remember that results like this don’t just happen. A lot of effort has gone in from pupils, parents, teachers and staff at the council. We can be very proud of what has been achieved.”
Lymm High School was Warrington’s top school for GCSE results, with 76 per cent of pupils achieving five A-C grades, including English and Maths.
Bridgewater High School was top in the A-Level tables with sixth formers 875 points awarded per pupil.
Warrington was also ranked fifth in the country for SAT scores at key stage two.
