Police budget roadshow

RESIDENTS of Warrington, worried about the impact of cutbacks of up to £35 million on police services over the next four years, will get a chance have some input to the debate when a Cheshire police roadshow visits the town on January 14.
The “brief the chief” roadshow will be on the car park at Morrison’s supermarket on Greenalls Avenue, off Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington between 11am and 3pm.
Visitors will be able to hear details of some of the money-saving ideas that have been put forward – and express their views.
Cheshire Police Authority chairman Margaret Ollerenshaw said: “We know that the people of Cheshire are keen to be involved in informing the way policing services are delivered. We listen to the views of residents and businesses about where they think the police should focus their time and effort. We now need to know where they believe we can make changes whilst maintaining the service they want.”
Chief Constable Dave Whatton said: “Listening to what our communities want and seeking their views on how we can change whilst maintaining front line services is important to us. The mobile roadshow is an excellent way of getting the public involved and will help us to make the right operational decisions within a much reduced budget.”
Members of the public will able to talk to a local officer and find out how they can play a part in ensuring community safety.
