Bank staff's canoe challenge

STAFF from NatWest’s business and commercial banking centre in Warrington raised thousands of pounds for charity after completing a gruelling 30 kilometre canoe challenge.
The nine-strong team embarked upon the challenge to raise funds for Liverpool’s Walton Centre, after the wife of one of their colleagues was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease. The team completed a loop of the River Weaver from Northwich to Frodsham and back.
The Walton Centre is the UK’s only integrated neurosciences trust. It provides specialist neurology, neurosurgery and pain management services to patients across Merseyside and Cheshire.
Widnes-based outdoor activity company M-Power provided the team with the equipment for the challenge.
Phil Evans, relationship manager at NatWest in Warrington said: “We wanted to do something for the charity that would provide future support for our colleague and his wife. As a team we had little experience of canoeing and I think it’s fair to say we found it hard work at times. It was a great way to raise much needed funds for a good cause and we would like to thank everyone who supported us.”
