CRACKED ribs and freezing temperatures couldn’t prevent a Warrington District Nurse from visiting her patients.
Chris Flannery works from Penketh Health Centre, she suffered the painful injury after slipping on a patch of black ice despite wearing sturdy hiking boots, whilst out visiting patients on her daily rounds.
The nurse was taken by ambulance to Warrington’s Accident and Emergency Department, where she said she was “looked after really well’ by A&E staff.
Keen to get back to her patients, she returned to work after spending just one day at home. Chris was kept on office duties for the remainder of the week, but is this week back in the community despite the sub zero temperatures and treacherous conditions.
“I love my job and I really enjoy visiting patients. It really never occurred to me to take any time off. I just wanted to carry on working” she said.
