POLICE hunting a gang responsible for a violent assault upon a Warrington man in his own home will tonight take their appeal to a national audience.
The aggravated burglary in Warrington, which took place on September 27, is being linked to a similar offence in Merseyside.
The Warrington incident took place around 9pm on the evening of Monday September 27.
A 44-year-old man was confronted by four men at his home in Delph Lane, Houghton Green. He was threatened, then assaulted with pick axe handles and had boiling water thrown on him. The offenders also threatened to drown his dog.
His ordeal ended when the offenders tied him up and left stealing cash.
As a result of the attack, the victim required hospital treatment for lacerations, bruising, and scalding.
He will provide an account of his ordeal during the reconstruction on tonight’s Crimewatch programme.
The offenders are described as adult men, who concealed their faces with balaclavas and spoke with a foreign accent, possibly Eastern European.
Detectives from Warrington will be supporting the national appeal, which will be broadcast on tonight’s Crimewatch, at 9pm.
In the meantime, anyone with any information can contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 000. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111.
