Prison probe after man found hanging

AN investigation is to be carried out by the Prisons and Probation Service Ombudsman following the death of a prisoner at Risley Prison, near Warrington.
James Kerfoot, aged 43, who was serving an indefinite sentence for manslaughter, was found hanging in his cell.
Prison staff and paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Prison Service spokesman said the investigation would be carried out as was the case with all deaths in custody.
The facts have also been reported to the coroner.
