WARRINGTON Rotary Club’s annual Oktoberfest beer festival proved to be another record-breaking event, raising an estimated £17,000 for charity.

Club President Angela Houghton, who is pictured with the Challenge Cup, Rotarian husband, Cliff Houghton and fellow members of the Oktoberfest team at this year’s event at the Pyramid, said:”This has been another record breaking year for us and we are very likely to have made over £17,000 over the three day event.
“This will now go to charities and good causes – both local and international and which would not have been possible without the generosity of the people of Warrington and surrounding areas who attended.”
Charities who will benefit from donations include Brainwave, Active Hope, Life Education, St Jospeh’s Family Centre, Warrington Young Musicians competition and YMCA Furniture project, along with international charities, Raising the Roof for Ghana and building a resource centre and house for children with HIV/AIDS in Thailand.
Presentations to the various charities will take place at the club’s 83rd Charter Night at the Fir Grove Hotel, Grappenhall on Friday November 19.
