National award for bus company

LOCAL bus company Warrington Borough Transport has been honoured with a prestigious National Training Award in recognition of their outstanding contribution and commitment to training, learning and development in the workplace.
Warrington Borough Transport Operations Director Charlie Shannon and HR Manager Tony Hindle were presented with a North West Regional National Training Award at the Regional Ceremony, held in Manchester on and were recognised in the Large Employer Award category for ‘Improving bus travel by training drivers’.
Run on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) by UK Skills, the National Training Awards inspires and encourages UK industry to invest in training and development as a route to achieving outstanding organisational and individual success.
Winning an Award is recognition of best practice and provides a benchmark for standards of excellence in training in the UK. City & Guilds is the premier sponsor of the 2010 National Training Awards.
Chairman of WBT, Les Hoyle said: “I’m absolutely delighted at receiving this award, which is recognition for all the hard work that goes into training of our employees”.
Managing Director David Squire added: “ I’m very proud of this achievement. We are locally owned and have won this award against stiff competition from a number of large well known companies with huge resources. I’m particularly proud of our staff and partner organizations that deliver training to our workforce.”

  1. They might want to train their drivers to remember the 16A bus route – particularly the part that goes down Lodge Lane/Troutbeck Avenue. It’s a terrible service and even worse customer service. Three times I have e-mailed a complaint about the bus not showing up, going via their website e-mail, and not once have I had the courtesy of a reply.

    Their customer service/relations should go on some training!

They may also want to train their drivers to use the 5 minutes engine Idling law I have had many conflicts with their drivers, its a shame the law is not enforced as much as it should as it is a major cause of CANCER and is far worse than passive smoking yet seems acceptible to the public at large probably because its a hidden killer.
