Boost for reputable landlords

PRIVATE landlords in Warrington are being urged to sign up to a new scheme which aims to promote reputable landlords to prospective tenants.
Warrington Borough Council wants local landlords to join the scheme launched by the council, jointly with Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester councils.
The Cheshire Landlord Accreditation Scheme will list reputable private landlords on a Cheshire-wide database which will be accessible through the WBC website.
Scheme coordinators would like to hear from landlords who go that extra mile, managing their properties well beyond the basic legal requirements.
The scheme aims to publicly recognise landlords who exceed basic standards of accommodation, promote the good physical condition of a property, promote good management practices, give tenants the assurance of renting good accommodation and offer training, advice and updated information to landlords.
Landlords can apply to join from Friday (October 1) and a small fee is charged to cover training.
Accredited membership will be reviewed every three years.
Coun Bob Barr, Warrington’s executive member for planning, regeneration and housing, said: “Private landlords play an essential role in the provision of accommodation across the county.
“We acknowledge and appreciate that many private landlords manage their tenancies well and provide and maintain properties to a good standard. We feel it is important to recognise these landlords and encourage and support others to do at least as well.”
To become accredited, landlords can contact the housing team on 01925 442448 or email [email protected]
