AN application to build an extension and health and leisure facilities at a historic hotel once made famous by hosting the Brazilian World Cup team has been deferred by Warrington planners.
The application, for Lymm Hotel, Whitbarrow Road, Lymm, was deferred for further consideration by Warrington’s planning applications sub committee.
Plans include a swimming pool, conference and business facilities and 29 additional bedrooms.
The application is the latest of a series over the last 15 years, all of which were strongly opposed by local residents.
Lymm Parish Council has objected to the new scheme and concern has also been expressed by local residents’ group Neighbours of the Lymm Hotel.
Objectors fear over-development of the site, parking problems, inadequate sewage facilities and environmental issues. They are also concerned about the scale of
development, and problems cause by deliveries, traffic noise, the building design and loss of trees.
The Lymm Hotel hit the headlines in 1966 when it hosted the Brazalian World Cup team including soccer legen Pele.

  1. Let’s face it….. the Hotel is in Lymm and it any works they want to do will always be opposed because it is Lymm and they worry too much about their house prices and what the rest of their Cheshire neighbours will think
