Garage hit by arsonists

FIRE crews broke into a garage at Warrington and removed a car to save it from a developing fire.
The blaze was in Leicester Street, Bewsey last night (Thursday) and involved a block of four domestic garages.
It started in one garage which contained no vehicle but a large quantity of stored property and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled it with two hosereel jets.
Smoke spread to adjoining garages and crews broke into one to remove the car.
But in the event, they managed to prevent flames from spreading to the other garages.
The cause is believed to be arson.
In a separate incident, three large bales of hay were set on fire in a field of Stocks Lane, Penketh.
One was extinguished using hosereels but the other two, which were further from the road, were allowed to burn out.
Children playing with matches were blamed.
