Planning appeal allowed

A PLANNING inspector has allowed an appeal by a Lymm resident against the refusal by Warrington Borough Council to grant planning permission for a home extension.
He has ruled that the rear, first floor extension over an existing garage at a house in Longcroft Place would not have an significant effect on the street scene or the amenity of the area.
He acknowledged that the development would be contrary to the council’s terracing code, in that a two metre gap between properties would not be retained at first floor level, but decided the aims of the code would not be breached.
A council spokesman said the inspector took a different view to the council and this showed the need to apply the code as guidance rather than strict policy.
