The Man of the Match was Nick Owen, well supported by Matt Clarke, Jono Smith, Graham Healey and Chris Campbell.
The Wizards will now travel to league winners Bramley Buffaloes on the weekend of 11/12 September in the Qualification Final. The winners of that game will go straight into the Grand Final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday 26th September as part of the triple header whilst the losers will get a second bite of the cherry a week later on home soil.
After the game Head Coach Chris Campbell said, “We are absolutley delighted to have secured second place and this is our best ever league placing during the summer era. It was one of our goals at the beginning of the season to finish in the top two and we hhave now done that; we now have to reach our second goal by actually making it through to the Grand Final.
“We have a four week break down before our next game so that will give us plenty of time to work on areas that need improving and it will also give some of the lads who are carrying knocks chance to get 100% fit. We gave oursleves a mountain to climb today with a poor first half hour but the quality and togetherness within our side shone through in the end and we was able to get the win.”
