Residents fail to block house plan

NEARBY residents have failed in a bid to block plans for a new house in Windmill Lane, Appleton.
Borough council planners have given the go-ahead for the development despite receiving five objections.
The scheme involves demolition of a single-storey, self-contained annexe attached to St Ann’s, a dormer bungalow in Windmill Lane.
In its place, a four-bedroomed, traditional two-storey house will be built, towards the rear of the site.
Objectors claimed the house would be out of character with the area, adding a large property to a road already overdeveloped. They queried the ability of the sewerage system to cope with the development and claimed the new house would have an “overbearing height.”
Planning officers said the proposals complied with council privacy and daylight standards and could be carried out without unacceptable detriment to the amenities of nearby properties.
