Man, 67, attacked and robbed

A 67-year-old man has been attacked and robbed at Howley, Warrington.
Detectives are appealing for information about the incident, which occurred at about 1.30am on on Wednesday morning.
The victim had got out of a taxi in Farrell Street and was walking home when he was approached from behind and pushed to the floor.
His attacked made demands for cash and his mobile phone – neither of which he had.
The offender then proceeded to kick him to the right side of his body before fleeing the scene empty handed.
Police said the offender was about 25-35, more than 6ft tall and of athletic build. He had closely cropped receding hair and a square shaped, clean shaven face. He was dressed in a beige coloured v-necked top with his sleeves pushed up and dark coloured trousers. He spoke with a local accent.
DC Pam Hopkins who is investigating the incident said: “This was a violent, unprovoked attack on a elderly gentleman. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured despite the nature of the assault he was subjected to.
“We appeal to anyone in the area at the time, or anyone who has any information at all, to come forward and contact Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000 or alternatively information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
