WARRINGTON Wizards bounced back to winning ways with an excellent 36-18 away win at Kippax Knights in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National.
The Wizards went into the game knowing that a victory was crucial if they wanted to finish in second place in the league table and they did just that with a very professional performance.
Tries were scored by Dave Yii 1, Graham Healey 2, Matt Wilson 1, Dan Stubbs 1 and Chris Campbell 1. Warren Ayres landed six goals from seven attempts.
The Man of the Match was awarded to Wizards’ prop forward Dan Stubbs. He was well supported by Ian Stephenson, Chris Campbell, Matt Wilson and Dave Yii.
After the game head coach Chris Campbell said: “We came here to do a job and the lads pulled it off to perfection.
“We knew that we needed to win this game to keep us in pole position for second place going into the Play Off games and we did that in fine style. Everyone in the team did the job that was asked and we are delighted.
“We have a massive game now next Saturday at home to Featherstone Lions, which is our last league game, and know that a win will get us that second place. Featherstone always provide us with tough encounters and this one will be no different as they need the win to ensure that they finish in a play off place.”
The Wizards entertain Featherstone Lions on Saturday afternoon. Kick off is 4.30pm at Wilderspool Stadium. Admission is £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions.
