Restaurant evacuated as fire blazes

A McDONALD’S restaurant was evacuated after fire broke out involving a fat fryer.
The blaze was at the Poplar 2000 Truckstop at Cliff Lane, Lymm
Firefighters from Warrington and Birchwood were involved in the operation.
Crews were met with a smouldering fire in a deep fat fryer which had filled the building with dense smoke.
Two fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using a fire blanket and a dry powder extinguisher. The building was later cleared of smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
