NEW charges are to be introduced at Warrington’s Bus Interchange toilets in a bid to maintain standards and safety.
From Monday August 2 users will pay 20 pence for the facility, following the introduction of a turnstile.
A council spokesperson said funds generated will be used to help keep the award-winning toilets at the high standards that customers expect. The charge will also enable greater investment into safety and security. For example, broken toilet seats and locks will be replaced quickly.
Prior to introduction of the charge, a thorough cleaning of facilities and some remedial maintenance works will take place tomorrow (Sunday).
The use of the baby-changing facilities are not affected and disabled toilets can still be accessed using a radar key.
Coun Alan Litton said: “This will enable us to keep vandalism at a minimum and maintain the toilets over the longer term to the standards that our customers have come to expect. We have won awards for these toilets, thanks to our staff, and we want to be able to continue to provide a high quality service.”

why are disabled people exempt from paying?
“Broken toilet seats and locks will be replaced quickly”. They should be anyway out of Council Tax. I will definitely not be using the Bus Station toilets.
because they are already suffering more than you – & usually for life
How do you know?
