Teenager glassed outside pub

A TEENAGER suffered broken teeth and cuts to his face and mouth when a glass was smashed into his face outside a Warrington pub.
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses of the attack which took place outside the Causeway pub in Wilderspool Causeway at about 10.50pm on Friday, July 9.
The 19-year-old victim was seated outside the pub on a when he was approached by a man who continually pestered him to buy him a drink. A second man intervened and tried to encourage the man to leave the victim alone.
The first man then became verbally abusive and began to throw punches at the victim and his friends. The victim pushed him away, at which point the second man smashed a glass into the victim’s face.
As a result, the victim was taken to Warrington Hospital for treatment for broken teeth and cuts to the face and mouth.
DC Vanessa Byrne said: “This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man that has left him with significant injuries and what will potentially be a lengthy period of medical treatment.
“This incident happened outside a pub on a busy road and we would ask that anyone who saw the incident, or who may have any information in relation to the matter, contact Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000.”

The two men involved where both in their mid-20s and of thin build. One was about 5ft 9 inches tall, had dark hair in a crew cut style and a tattoo on his forearm and the other (pictured) was about 5ft 11 inches tall, with short
sandy coloured hair. He was wearing a striped t-shirt and shorts.
