Arson attack on disused building

FIRE crews tackled a serious blaze involving a derelict building at Warrington during the night.
The blaze involved a timber and steel framed building in Parr Street, Howley.
It is believed the fire had been started deliberately.
Firefighters used a hosereel jet to tackle the blaze which did not threatened nearby buildings.
But a second arson attack, involving bins at the rear of White Street, Warrington early this morning could have affected nearby homes but for prompt action by firefighters.
It was the latest in a series of deliberate bins fires and fire service chiefs are evolving a strategy to combat the problem – possibly by encouraging people to put their bins out early in the morning rather than the night before.
