Youth base celebrates 12 months

TEENAGERS are invited to a party with DJ/MC and graffiti workshops being held in Warrington on Saturday July 3.
Orford Youth Base, Capesthorne Road, will be celebrating its first birthday with a party from 11am to 3pm. It is open to all young people aged 13 to 19.
Since the base underwent an extensive refurbishment last year, children, young people and community groups in the Orford area have been using the venue. They can access information and support and take part in a wide variety of activities.
The party has been organised by the North Area Youth Forum, which was set up to increase young people’s involvement in council decision-making. It is supported by the Warrington Youth Support Service.
Jess Barker, of the forum, said: “The base is good because it helps lots of young people when they’ve got nowhere to go. If you’ve got some issues it’s a good place to go and get listened to, somewhere to go to get young people off the streets, you can cook, play pool and have a laugh.”
