Town set for exciting season

IT will be all systems go for ambitious Warrington Town FC next month when pre-season begins in earnest including a high profile international fixture for the Peace Cup, which Town won last year.
It is set to be an exciting season for Town who can also look forward to a mouth watering clash with Chester City after the former Football League and Conference club won their appeal against demotion to the Vodkat North West Counties League following financial irregularities.
The new look Evo-Stick League will now have 23 member clubs, meaning a 44 game season, which kicks off a week later than last year on August 21.
Meanwhile Town, who return to training on July 1, have organised a number of pre-season friendlies, kicking off on July 17 against AFC Liverpool.
The next home game is against Crewe United from Northern Ireland for the Peace Cup, when special guests will include peace campaigners Colin and Wendy Parry, who will be presenting a trophy in memory of their 12 year-old son Tim, who died in the Warrington bombing alongside three-year-old Jonathan Ball in March 1993.
Regulars at Cantilever Park will see a few changes, including a new snack bar which is currently being worked on. Work is also ongoing to provide a new Vice Presidents lounge. A funding bid is also being put togther for an all weather training pitch, which will also be available for community use.
Youngsters from the club’s barmy army have also been working hard alongside Head grounds man John Barton and his assistant Rick Smales, to ensure the playing surface in tip top condition for the new season.
John (pictured above) has also ensured the home team changing rooms have been given a fresh new look in the club colours of blue and yellow.

Tues 3rd August – Northwich Victoria – Home 7:45pm
Tues 10th August – Marine – Home 7:45pm
Sat 14th August – Colwyn Bay – Away 3.00pm
