A PLAN to modernise libraries in Warrington and ensure services are delivered in a cost effective way has been launched.
Warrington Borough Council wants to ensure the service meets the future needs of local people and the changing way that residents and young people want to access books and learning.
First stage of the project is a comprehensive review of library services in the town and a group has been formed to look at this. This includes library users, staff, trade unions, partners, stakeholders and members of the national Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
They will also look at how services can be delivered most effectively and offer value for money to residents.
Coun Bob Timmis, the council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “These are exciting and challenging times for local public services, but I believe this project gives us a real opportunity to take services forward by looking not just at what they cost, but at the value they bring to local people.”
The group will report back to elected members in the autumn to present options for public consultation.

Oh dear!……..is this something else that is going to be rather more ‘challenging’ than ‘exciting’?
Done in the usual back to front Warrington way with the ‘options’ presented before the public consultation!
