Lymm May Queen resounding success

AFTER all the uncertainity it was a case of the show must go on as the annual Lymm May Queen Festival took to the streets of the local village.
Thousands lined the streets as sunshine greeted those taking part in the annual parade which had been under threat to an ongoing dispute about access to the local May Queen Field due to an insurance wrangle.
But thanks to the dedicated hard work of a team of volunteers, led by May Queen orgainser Lynn Shaw, who stood in at the last minute to ensure the event took place, it proved to be a resounding success.
Thea Field, aged 11 from Statham Primary School (pictured right) was crowned May Queen while Rebecca Layhe, aged 10 from Cherry Tree Primary School, was crowned Rose Queen.
Town Crier Peter Powell launched the parade from the top of Eagle Brow, as various community organisations paraded through the village before entering the May Queen field for the traditional crowning ceremony.
The whole event had been put in doubt when previous organisers feared they would be held liable to any damage caused to utility pipes at the entrance to the field.
