A MUSICAL depiction of folklore favourite the Ghost Train is being performed in Warrington.
“Ghost Train” with The North Cheshire Wind Orchestra conducted by Catherine Tackley will be performed at the Pyramid Arts Centre on Saturday June 19 at 7.30pm.
The concert also features Gulda’s Cello Concerto and Eric Whitacre’s Ghost Train. The former is described as “one minute funky, the next minute Mozartian.”
The tone poem Ghost Train is described as depicting “a supernatural machine that roars out of the night through forgotten towns and empty canyons” – an image deeply rooted in American folklore.
The programme also includes Leonard Bernstein’s Slava!, Ira Hearshen’s Divertimento for Band and Grainger’s Colonial Song.
There will be a pre-concert talk at 6.50pm. Tickets are priced at £8, £7 concessions and £3 under 16s, and are available from the box office on 01925 422345 or from the website at www.pyramidparrhall.co.uk
