A 29-year-old local man was arrested today by detectives investigating a serious assault in the Warrington area.
The man, who will be questioned later today, was also wanted by police on Merseyside for failing to appear in court in relation to a charge of robbery.
Last week, police appealed for help from the public in tracing Michael Shepherd-Smith, originally from the Merseyside area but who recently lived in the Penketh area.
They said at the time they wished to speak to him in connection with a serious assault that took place in Latchford on Tuesday May 18.
