DETECTIVES at Warrington are appealing for help from the public in track down a callous burglar who raided an elderly woman’s home while was in hospital.
The pensioner was admitted to hospital following a fall at her home in Cavendish Close, Old Hall, Warrington earlier this year.
Members of her family made regular checks at her unoccupied home while she was in hospital and discovered a safe, containing a significant amount of cash, was missing.
Also in the safe were items of jewellery of great sentimental value.
One of the lines of enquiry police are investigating is whether the offender may be known to the victim and knew the whereabouts of the safe.
It is unclear exactly when the burglary took place, but detectives estimate probably occurred some time between the end of February and early April.
The jewellery is described as a 22 carat gold wedding band and a diamond solitaire ring.
Anyone with any information or who feels they may be able to help should contact DC Alex Reeves at Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000 or alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
