WARRINGTON Borough Council has been awarded funding to develop music nights for under 16s.
Youth Music has granted the council’s Arts and Sports Engagement Team £22,600 towards the “Plugged In” project.
The project aims to help young people to put on music events in the outer areas of Warrington which will give them a chance to develop their event management skills and showcase their talents to their peers.
Coun Bob Timmis, the council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “I’m delighted that we have been awarded this funding. It will provide young people with an opportunity which they would not otherwise have had.”
Coun Sheila Woodyatt, executive member for children and young people, added: “This money will be put to excellent use helping the borough’s young people to display and develop their talents. I look forward to seeing the results.”
The project will run from September until July next year, with taster sessions this July.
