THE ruling Lib Dem-Tory group on Warrington Borough Council has named a new executive team – with just one change from the old one.
Grappenhall and Thelwall councillor Mike Biggin (right) takes over from Poulton North member Sharon Wilson (left).
Coun Biggin’s portfolio will cover climate change and public protection – a wide ranging brief which also covers flooding, trading standards, environmental health, licensing policy and crime and disorder.
Ian Marks continues as leader of the council, chairing the executive board and taking responsibility for external promotion of Warrington and the corporate plan.
Keith Bland will continue as deputy leader, with responsibility for children’s social care, member development, communications, people and transformation and performance management.
The leader and deputy will share responsibility for promoting the council across the borough, business engagement and liaison with partners, scrutiny and governance.
Re-appointed to the executive are: Bob Barr, planning regeneration and housing; Paul Campbell, finance, efficiency and improvement; Alan Litton, environment and transport; Liz Smith, neighbourhoods and communities; Roy Smith, health and well-being; Bob Timmis, leisure and skills; and Sheila Woodyatt, education and young people.
