FIRE crews were called to Warrington’s Cockhedge shopping centre when fire broke out involving a milk tanker.
The vehicle was making a delivery to the Asda store when the blaze – believed to be caused by a fault on the cooling system – broke out.
The lorry driver, helped by Asda staff, tackled the blaze with extinguishers before firefighters could get to the scene.
In a separate incident, fire crews were called to the M62 near Warrington when a car burst into flames.
The Vauxhall Astra estate car caught fire as a result of a fuel leak. The driver managed to pull onto the hard shoulder and escape unhurt.
Part of the motorway was coned off for a while and the incident led to traffic tailbacks.
