Baby garden for crematorium

0

WORK has almost been completed on a new, dedicated “baby garden” at Warrington’s Walton Lea Crematorium.
The Sweet Dreams Baby Garden will be officially opened on Sunday May 2.
It will offer parents who have lost babies or young children a special place to grieve or leave personal items in memory of their loved ones.
The borough council’s bereavement services section has worked closely with funeral directors, the Midwifery Association, churches and bereaved parents to provide the new facility.
Warrington already has two cemeteries with special baby gardens, but it will be the first time a dedicated section has been available at the crematorium.
Parents will able to scatter ashes in the baby garden or inter cremated remains within a central plot. Baby blocks for the interment of ashes within the baby garden will be available for lease.
The council has not legal obligation to provide burial facilities and when they are provided they must recover costs by fees and charges.
There will be no charge for scattering ashes but a memorial wall plaque will cost £25 and private memorial blocks £600 for a 15 year lease
