Students aim for chart success

MUSIC students at the Warrington campus of Chester University are hoping for chart success with a single they released at the beginning of the week.
“Time is Money” by hip-hop and R&B act Asher Don was launched at Manchester Academy Club on Monday.
It has already reached 59 in Amazon’s main singles chart and 23 in their hip-hop/R&B chart.
Singles bought today (Saturday) could help the group make the UK Top 200.
The effort is all part of the students’ third year showcase project.
Jim Mason, senior lecturer in Commercial Music Production, said: “Under the Aspiration brand our students have recruited, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered music acts this year. In many cases they have written the music and are either part of the act or, in some cases, the whole act.
“An important part of the project is to organise a music showcase to get the acts they have been developing to perform at a top venue, attracting a large audience and marketing them to the music industry.”
The acts who appeared in Manchester included Asher Don, Laugh Stretch Delay, Circle Circus, Stormcorporation, Plastic Highways, Crimson Daydream and Carpe Diem.”
Asher Don’s “Time Is Money” is available at amazon.co.uk and more information about Aspiration can be found at twitter.com/aspiration or by searching for Aspiration Warrington on Facebook.com
