A LIVELY debate ensued when three candidates for the General Election visited a Warrington college.
Priestley College welcomed the three main candidates for the Warrington South seat – Nick Bent (Labour), Jo Crotty (Liberal Democrat) and David Mowat (Conservative).
College Council representative Simon Perfect hosted the afternoon and students asked all the candidates a range of questions during the frank debate.
It was part of a series of events by the college aimed at explaining government processes and democracy. Students studying related courses have recently visited Westminster, the European Parliament in Brussels and the White House and Congress in Washington DC.
Assistant curriculum managerCarol Ratcliffe said: “We were really fortunate that all three of the main candidates for the Warrington South seat were able to visit our campus and engage with our young people.
“From the feedback received Nick, Jo and David all seemed to have enjoyed the opportunity to speak to the electorate of tomorrow and are keen to repeat the event in the future.”
