AN URBAN art exhibition in Warrington, featuring work by internationally acclaimed artists including Banksy, Sam Taylor-Wood, Candice Tripp and Takashi Murakami has been nominated for a national award.
The ‘Museum and Heritage Awards of Excellence’ is an annual event which celebrates outstanding exhibitions and best practice within museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions.
Warrington is the only museum in the north west region to be shortlisted in the ‘temporary/touring exhibition’ category.
The ‘(R)Evolution of Urban Art ‘ exhibition featured work from 15 artists as well as exclusive interviews with several of them to create a challenging and thought provoking show.
Some of the artists were so impressed with the exhibition and the response from the public that they donated several pieces of work to the permanent collection.
Other museums nominated with Warrington include Bristol City Museum, the Royal Armouries and London Transport Museum, so competition is fierce. Results will be announced on May 12.
