WARRINGTON Wolves young winger Kevin Penny has joined Harlequins RL on a month’s loan with immediate effect.
The move is to enablePenny to play within the Super League competition.
Penny came onto the Rugby League scene back in 2006 making his debut against St Helens. He had a great first season at the Wolves in 2007 with plenty of first team action and ultimately made the Super League Dream Team. Last year, on loan at the Widnes Vikings, Kevin picked up some silverware as part of the Northern Rail Cup winning side.
The club would like to wish him the best of luck in his time with the Quins and will continue to support him throughout his short time away from the Wolves.
Head of Coaching Tony Smith said: “This is a great opportunity for Kevin to push forward for first team action in Super League.”
Penny’s mentor and former Wolves’ Coach Paul Cullen, who was in charge of the youngster at Widnes last year said: “He is far too good to be playing at our level.
“I know people have questioned his defensive abilities but he is a proven try scorer – and there are a lot of wingers in Super League with questionable defensive abilities!”
Harlequins are set to entertain St Helens at the Stoop on Saturday.
