Defensive blunders cost Town

WARRINGTON Town crashed to a disappointing 1-3 home defeat to lowly Salford City who ended any lingering relegation fears of their own.
The visitors made the most of some poor defending and were two up within half an hour through Dave Neville on nine minutes and Steve Foster after 29 minutes.
Neville headed home when unmarked in the box while Foster was the first to react to a lengthy clearance which was allowed in bounce between the Town defenders and keeper Ben Connett.
Warrington had a great chance to get back into the game after the first goal when Chris Gahgan was tripped in the box, but the prolific scorer got to his feet and rifled the ball against the cross bar (Pictured right). Three minutes later the visiotrs were two up!
Town created few chances in the second half and the game was as good as over on the hour when Foster netted from the penalty spot for his second goal.
Gavin Salmon headed home for Warrington three minutes from time but it was too little too late.
Disappointed Town manager Joey Dunn kept the players in the dressing room for a good half hour after the game to make his views known on the team performance.
Warrington’s next game is at home to Garforth Town next Saturday, kick off 3pm when they will be looking to get back on track for a strong end of season run-in and avenge their recent 5-3 defeat in Yorkshire.
Town sorely missed the leadership of Skipper Mike Tomlinson at the heart of their defence after he suffered a knee ligament strain at Wakefield on Friday.
But the central defender is hopeful of a quick return, possibly in time for the visit of Garforth.
