Rugby success for school team

THE Year 9 Rugby Union team from Bridgewater High School has won the Northern Counties RU Festival on Tyneside, representing Cheshire.
The win the trophy, they had to beat teams from all over the North of England representing Yorkshire, Northumberland, Lancashire and Cumbria.
In the group stages, the team had only one tough match, against Guiseley, representing Yorkshire, who moved the ball well and had some strong runners.
But Bridgewater High eventually won 12-5, allowing them to win their group and play the winners of the other group, St Benedict’s RC High, representing Cumbria.
Bridgewater went on strong, running in a try in the first few minutes.
Their opponents fought back, crossing the line twice only to be held up.
Final score was 19-0 for Bridgewater.
Martin Turner, head of PE was very pleased with the team’s performance.
“They should all give each other a pat on the back,” he said.
